May 23 (Renewables Now) - The Spanish energy ministry on Friday published a list of the winners of its May 17 renewable energy auction, which awarded 3 GW almost exclusively to wind power projects.

The main wind winners are:

Sociedad Aragonesa Transeuropea

TOTAL 2,979.7

The photovoltaic (PV) technology secured 1.037 MW, of which 1 MW was awarded to Tecnologia Ingenieria y Calidad SL. In addition, a total 19.3 MW of capacity was awarded to other technologies. The table below includes only the projects above 1 MW.

Consorcio de Aguas Bilbao-Bizkaia 4.2

The facilities should be operational by 2020, contributing to Spain's 20% renewable energy target by that year. The contracts were awarded at the maximum possible discount, meaning that the projects will be carried out at no additional premium to the market, the ministry has said. The applications submitted have exceeded by more than three times the capacity awarded.
