Jul 7, 2014 - Netherlands-based firm Sif Group has received an order to make the foundations of the 400-MW Dudgeon wind scheme in UK waters of Norwegian firms Statoil (NYSE:STO) and Statkraft.
The contract was awarded by project partnership The Dudgeon Wind Farm Ltd, according to a press release from Friday. It calls for the procurement, manufacturing and assembly of 67 monopile foundations and 67 transition pieces for the proposed wind complex.
Deliveries are scheduled for January 2016 and installation will be completed by August 2016.
The 400-MW wind park will be powered by 67 turbines made by Germany's Siemens (ETR:SIE). When up and running, it is expected to produce enough electricity for as many as 410,000 homes annually and save up to 19 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission during its 25-year life, the developers calculate.
Last week Statoil and Statkraft took a final investment decision on the GBP-1.5-billion (USD 2.6bn/EUR 1.9bn) project. They are starting onshore construction works now. Offshore activities are scheduled to commence in 2016, while commercial operations are to begin at the end of 2017.
Sif Group is among the leading suppliers of tubular steel structures for offshore wind farms and the oil and gas industry.
