Siemens to supply 21 turbines for offshore wind park in China

(ADPnews) - Jun 22, 2011 - German industrial group Siemens (ETR:SIE) said on Tuesday it had won an order from a subsidiary of China Longyuan Power Group (HKG:0916) to supply 21 offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3 MW each.

Jiangsu Longyuan Offshore Wind Power Co will use the turbines with a rotor diameter of 101 metres (331 feet) in a wind farm off the coast of China's Jiangsu province. The wind farm with a capacity of around 50 MW is expected to become operational near the end of 2011.

In addition to supplying the turbines, Siemens will provide servicing and maintenance for five years.

This is Siemens' first order for offshore wind turbines from China. The wind energy industry in China is growing at a fast pace, having already reached a capacity of almost 45 GW. Not long ago, Siemens started producing rotors and nacelles for wind turbines in Shanghai.
