Siemens renews service contract for 343-MW US wind park

German industrial group Siemens AG (ETR:SIE) said today it will provide service and maintenance at the 343-MW Lower Snake River wind farm in Washington State for an additional 10 years.

The new long-term service deal, awarded to Siemens by local firm Puget Sound Energy (PSE), will see the German company equip all of the 149 turbines at the site with its Power Boost function and High Wind Ride Through (HWRT) turbine modernisation products.

Siemens has been servicing the Lower Snake River wind park since it started commercial operations in early 2012. The plant, located near Pomeroy in Garfield county, uses Siemens’ SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines, which together generate enough electricity to power some 82,000 homes on average.

Currently, Siemens provides services and maintenance for over 4,000 turbines in the Americas, it said. The company did not disclose the value of its latest service contract.
