Jul 15, 2014 - German engineering group Siemens (ETR:SIE) said today it had won a contract to deliver 36 MW of wind turbines for a project in Nordfriesland, northwestern Germany.
The deal calls for the supply of 12 direct-drive 3-MW wind turbines, of which 11 pieces of the SWT-3.0-113 machine and one SWT-3.0-101 unit. The equipment will power the Suederluegum wind farm, with installation works scheduled for late 2014. In addition, Siemens will service and maintain the turbines for 20 years.
The publicly-owned Suederluegum wind park near the North Sea coast is being managed by Reinhard Christiansen, Horst Leithoff and Peter Steffens.
Siemens noted that the wind park will help stabilise the power grid by feeding in reactive power, thus bringing additional economic benefits for the operator.
Earlier this month, Siemens unveiled an order to supply 33 MW of wind turbines for a project in Belgium, marking its entry into the country. The machines will be installed at the Wind aan de Stroom wind park in Antwerp harbour.
