December 27 (Renewables Now) - Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) said today that it has received an order to supply 302 MW of its 3.X turbines for a wind farm project in India.

The order was placed by Ayana Renewable Power Six Private Limited, a renewable energy platform backed by the Indian government’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF).

The assignment will take Siemens Gamesa to the state of Karnataka, specifically to the Gadag district where the wind farm will be located. Ayana won this project in a domestic tender.

Siemens Gamesa is due to supply 84 units of the SG 3.6-145 turbines, which are part of its 3.X platform. The SG 3.6-145 machines have been designed for the Indian market and will be manufactured in the country.

The commissioning of the Gadag project is expected to occur in 2023, the turbine maker said.

With the latest contract, Siemens Gamesa books its third order for the 3.X turbines in India. This summer, Indian independent power producer ReNew Power Pvt Ltd ordered 623 MW worth of SGRE turbines for its two wind projects in Karnataka.
