Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) has placed a firm order with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) for the supply of 913 MW of turbines for the Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind project in German waters.
Siemens Gamesa said in a statement that it will deliver and install 83 units of the SG 11.0-200 DD machines and then service them under a multi-year contract. The signing of this latest deal comes after the two parties enter into a preferred supplier agreement in March 2020.
Borkum Riffgrund 3 will be built about 50 km off the coast of Lower Saxony in the German North Sea. Installation is scheduled to start in 2024 and commissioning is planned for 2025.
“This huge wind power plant featuring our SG 11.0-200 offshore Direct Drive machines will provide both clean green energy to more than one million households for decades to come, and also make a significant contribution towards energy security for Germany,” commented Marc Becker, CEO of the Siemens Gamesa Offshore Business Unit.
