Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) has won a full-scope service contract for 58 MW of Vestas wind turbines powering two wind farms in Poland.
The deal, being the company’s first service order for another manufacturer’s turbines, was awarded by local energy major Polenergia SA (WSE:PEP), Siemens Gamesa said on Thursday. From this month, it will start operating and maintaining 29 Vestas V90 machines at the 34-MW Lukaszow and 24-MW Modlikowice wind parks in western Poland. The contract also includes full-scope service including availability and component warranty for the Vestas turbines.
Siemens Gamesa will be in charge of the two plants’ operations and maintenance (O&M) in the next 23 years. An unnamed company has been servicing the machines for the past seven years.
Since stepping on the Polish market in 2013, Siemens Gamesa has installed 50 wind farms and now has over 1 GW of capacity under operation there. “We are expanding our multi-brand services globally, and this contract in Poland with Polenergia is our first major milestone in Northern Europe,” said Grant Walker, regional CEO of service Northern Europe and Middle East.
