April 3 (Renewables Now) - Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) has received a firm order from Innogy SE (ETR:IGY) to supply turbines for the 342-MW Kaskasi offshore wind project in the German North Sea.

The order covers the supply of 38 pieces of the SG 8.0-167 DD Flex turbines, as well as a two-year service and maintenance contract, Siemens Gamesa said on Thursday.

The Kaskasi wind farm will be sited 35 kilometres (21.7 miles) north of the Heligoland island in German waters.

Siemens Gamesa expect to start the turbine installation in July 2022.

Innogy, a German utility, was awarded the rights to the Kaskasi project in Germany’s 1,610-MW second offshore wind power auction in 2018.
