Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) announced on Thursday that it has booked two orders to supply turbines for 85 MW of wind power projects in Spain.
The wind turbine manufacturer said it signed one of the contracts with Grupo Jorge, a Spanish pork meat producer which also runs a dedicated renewable energy unit. Grupo Jorge ordered seven units of the SG 5.0-145 turbines for a project in the municipality of Herrera de los Navarros, Zaragoza province.
This contract includes a 15-year agreement for turbine maintenance. The Herrera de los Navarros wind farm is expected to commence operation in the second half of 2022.
The name of the second customer has not been released. That customer ordered ten turbines of the SG 5.0-145 model for a wind farm that is also set to be located in Zaragoza.
The wind farm is due to go online in the first half of 2022, after which Siemens Gamesa will take charge of turbine maintenance for a period of 20 years, the company said.
Over the course of current fiscal year, which for Siemens Gamesa started in October 2020, the company has booked orders for 107 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 534 MW in Spain, it added.
Siemens Gamesa has so far installed some 15 MW of turbines in Spain.
