September 9 (SeeNews) - Royal Dutch Shell Plc (AMS:RDSA) may bid in the Dutch government’s tender for the Borssele III and IV offshore wind sites, Reuters reported.

The tender will open on September 15 and run until September 29. A spokesman for the Anglo-Dutch oil and gas major told Reuters the company is studying the opportunity.

Shell participated in the tender for the right to build the Borssele I and II wind farms, each of 350 MW. In that competition, Danish state-owned utility Dong Energy A/S (CPH:DENERG) emerged as the winner after offering to sell the power at just EUR 72.7 (USD 80) per MWh, a record low price for the sector.

The upcoming Dutch tenders are hoped to again bring such low bids.

Borssele III will have a capacity of at least 331 MW and up to 360 MW, while Borssele IV will be of between 351 MW and 380 MW.
