Renewable energy consultancy SgurrEnergy has won a construction and operations monitoring contract for the 573-MW Race Bank wind project off the Norfolk coast in the UK.
SgurrEnergy announced the contract today, saying that it includes regular monitoring of construction and installation, checking progress and undertaking site visits. Previously, the company served as a technical advisor to the project, providing technical due diligence during the acquisition and project finance phases.
Offshore works have already begun and the wind park is expected to be switched on by early 2018. It will consist of 91 units of Siemens’ 6.3-MW wind turbines.
Dong Energy A/S (CPH:DENERG) announced in December it was selling a 50% stake in the project to Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5, controlled by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, and to Macquarie Capital, the principal investment arm of Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG).
