German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion SA (ETR:SEN) said today it has won a 60-MW order for a wind park that is currently being built by PLT Energia (BIT:PLTE) in the region of Basilicata, Southern Italy.
Senvion will supply 30 of its 2-MW turbines for the Tursi Colobraro wind project, which is the largest one under the third Italian feed-in tariff (FiT) auction system. The German company expects to start installing the machines next autumn. It estimates that the 30 turbines will be capable of generating enough power to supply nearly 40,000 local homes a year.
The wind park will be operated and maintained by PLT Engineering Srl upon completion.
To date, Senvion has erected in Italy more than 350 turbines from its MM-portfolio with a total rated output surpassing 700 MW, it said.
