Dec 3, 2014 - German wind turbine maker Senvion SE on Wednesday unveiled an order to will equip and install 171.6 MW of wind farms in Portugal for Ancora Wind Energia Eolica SA.
The German company, which is a subsidiary of India’s Suzlon Energy (BOM:532667), will supply 84 turbines for five projects collectively named Ancora. More specifically, the Moimenta 1 and 2 parks will each be powered by 21 Senvion MM92 2.05-MW turbines, while the Picos Vale do Chao plant will comprise 11 machines of the same model. Senvion will also supply 19 units of the MM92 turbines for the Tres Marcos wind farm and 12 pieces of its MM100 2-MW machines for the Sernancelhe complex.
The order includes 20-year service contracts for the parks’ maintenance.
Construction of the Moimenta I and II and the Picos Vale do Chao plants is slated to begin early next year, while works on the other two projects will be initiated in the spring and summer of 2015. Senvion expects to start turbine installation in the summer.
The Ancora project, sponsored by Galp Energia SGPS (ELI:GALP), Martifer SGPS (ELI:MAR) and Ferrostaal GmbH, was awarded under a 400-MW government tender in 2006.
