Nov 10, 2014 - German wind turbine maker Senvion SE has received an order to supply 150 MW of turbines for the Mesgi'g Ugju's'n project developed in Quebec by Canadian firm Innergex Renewable Energy (TSE:INE).
The German company, which is a subsidiary of India’s Suzlon Energy (BOM:532667), said today it will supply its 3.2M114 Cold Climate Version machines for the Canadian scheme. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Innergex holds a 50% stake in the CAD-365-million (USD 323m/EUR 258m) project, while the other half is owned by the three Mi’gmaq First Nations of Quebec. In its third-quarter financial report published last week, the Canadian company said the partners expect to pick an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor during 2015’s first quarter. Construction work is seen to start also next year, with plans to complete the wind park in late 2016. The project has already secured its government decree.
When up and running, Mesgi'g Ugju's'n is estimated to produce about 515,000 MWh of electricity per year, enough to supply over 30,000 local homes. Its output will be sold to local utility Hydro-Quebec under a 20-year fixed-price power purchase agreement (PPA).
