January 16 (Renewables Now) - Resource and energy assessment services provider BrightWind on Wednesday said it has managed to obtain EUR 162,000 (USD 181,000) in funding from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) for the development of a new wind and solar resource data management platform.

The platform will help researchers to better understand the development of wind and solar power in Ireland and offer solutions to help achieve the country's renewable energy goals.

BrightWind will also use the funding to build an open-source data analysis Python library, designed to provide easy access to wind and solar data to help industry cooperation and research activities.

The project is one of 50 development and demonstration energy projects that the minister for communication, climate action and environment, Richart Bruton, recently announced would receive a total of EUR 11 million in funding.
