Sep 19 (Renewables Now) - UK wind farm support vessel operator Seacat Services will provide two catamarans to support construction of the 588-MW Beatrice offshore wind farm in Scotland.

Seacat Services said today it has won a contract from Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) that comprises a 730-day logistical support charter for its vessel Seacat Intrepid. The assignment starts on September 25, with Intrepid to be joined by sister vessel Seacat Courageous in early 2018.

The Beatrice project is 40%-owned by SSE Plc (LON:SSE), while Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and China's SDIC Power hold 35% and 25%, respectively. The 84-turbine wind farm is being built in the Outer Moray Firth and is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2019. Offshore construction started in April and installation of the jacket substructures began last month.
