Schneider Electric nabs 215-MW renewables deal from ScottishPower

Dec 12, 2014 - French electrical equipment maker Schneider Electric SA (EPA:SU) has won an order from ScottishPower Renewables to provide energy management technology for 215 MW of clean energy projects.

The two-year framework contract calls for the design, production, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical components required for energy production, Schneider Electric said on Thursday. Those will include 33-kV primary switchgear and containerised wind turbine generator integrated substations.

The value of the deal was not disclosed, while Schneider Electric said it was estimated at “several million pounds.” The French company was selected following a nine-month procurement process.

ScottishPower Renewables is a unit of Spanish utility Iberdrola SA (MCE:IBE). To date, ScottishPower and Schneider Electric have partnered in over 1,000 MW of renewable energy schemes. The new contract will lift that figure to over 1,200 MW by the end of 2016.
