Scaldis awarded topsides contract at Kriegers Flak off Denmark

Scaldis Salvage and Marine Contractors NV of Belgium has secured a contract to install the topsides of the transformer platforms at the 600-MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind project in Denmark.

The contract has been awarded by Danish transmission system operator (TSO) Energinet.dk and German peer 50Hertz.

In May, Hollandia Offshore BV announced the win of a fabrication contract from Energinet.dk for the Kriegers Flak substations, with comissioning due in April and May 2018. The wind farm has two sections, each with its own substation. Kriegers Flak A will have a capacity of 200 MW, and Kriegers Flak B - 400 MW.

The Kriegers Flak B substation will also support the module which is part of the Combined Grid Solution (CGS) project. The EU-funded CGS is a planned 400-MW offshore interconnection between Germany and Denmark through the grid connections to the Baltic 1 & 2 offshore wind farms in German waters and Denmark’s Kriegers Flak.

The tender for Kriegers Flak is still ongoing, with final binding offers due for submission by November 8.
