SCA, Statkraft cut ribbon on 85-MW Swedish wind farm
Jun 6, 2014 - Swedish firm Svenska Cellulosa AB (STO:SCA B), or SCA, and Norwegian utility Statkraft AS have celebrated the start-up of an 85-MW wind farm in northern Sweden.
The Morttjarnberget facility is expected to produce about 280 GWh of electricity each year, paper maker SCA said on Thursday. The plant consists of 37 turbines Siemens turbines of 2.3 MW each, expected to generate enough electricity to meet the demand of 56,000 households annually, the developers calculate.
The Morttjarnberget park is one of the six wind power projects that SCA is developing with Statkraft. In the autumn of 2013, the companies put on stream the 26-turbine Stamasen wind farm in Sweden and are currently building two more facilities. As part of the partnership, the two firms plan to install 350 wind turbines whose annual output is estimated at 3 TWh.
