Saxlund gets EUR-3m biomass handling system order from B&W

The Danish unit of US firm Babcock & Wilcox Co (NYSE:BWC), or B&W, has contracted Saxlund International GmbH to supply a biomass handling system for a renewable energy project in South Wales, the UK.

More specifically, Saxlund, which is part of Sweden’s Opcon AB (STO:OPCO), will design, fabricate, deliver and commission two fully automatic fuel handling systems under a contract worth over EUR 3 million (USD 3.3m) with Denmark-based Babcock & Wilcox Volund A/S.

Each of the two units will have the capacity to enable a 100% redundancy in feeding the boiler the equivalent of 125 MW of fuel input, Saxlund said. The fuel feeding system, to be commissioned in September 2016, will be designed for multi-fuel waste wood.

Saxlund expects to hand over the system to B&W in 2017.
