German energy group RWE AG (ETR:RWE) and French green energy group Valorem have agreed to make a joint bid in the ongoing tender in France for the development of a 1-GW wind park off the island of Oleron.
The two companies have signed a partnership agreement in the hope of winning the right to develop a bottom-fixed project some 40 km off the coast of Oleron Island, outside the Marine Natural Park. The tender in question was launched last October and is expected to lead to the selection of a winner by French energy regulator CRE next year.
RWE said in a statement today that the two companies will take part in the competitive dialogue, the next stage of the bidding process after pre-qualification.
“Together, we’ll submit an offer developed in close consultation with the region, to propose a competitive project that respects the environment and users of the sea, while offering many economic and industrial benefits,” said Sven Utermohlen, CEO of RWE Offshore Wind.
The German group is involved in all French offshore wind tenders, including for sites off Normandy, Charente, Bretagne and off the Mediterranean coast.
