Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES) and South Korea's Dohwa Engineering Co Ltd (KRX:002150) have agreed to cooperate on upcoming offshore wind projects in South Korea.
The UK-based renewables developer said today the agreement was signed earlier this month. RES will provide Dohwa with knowledge from the offshore wind industry, while benefiting from the South Korea company's local consultancy expertise. As part of the partnership, Dohwa will employ RES as its supplier of choice for offshore consultancy.
Kevin Todd, RES offshore business development manager, Asia, said that finding local partners was important to support the company's expansion in the Far East region, which he described as the fastest growing new sector in offshore wind.
Todd also said that the RES contribution would strengthen Dohwa's engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) offer to the South Korean offshore wind market.
RES' representative in South Korea, Blue Wind Engineering Co Ltd, will support both RES and Dohwa, according to the announcement.
Last week, Dutch consultancy Wind Minds announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Korea Offshore Wind Power (KOWP) over a partnership concerning the development of a 2.5-GW offshore wind complex in Korea.
