RES gets ready to start building 18-MW UK wind farm

UK-based Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES) confirmed it will initiate construction of the 18-MW Den Brook wind park, located in west Devon, England, in mid August.

By erecting nine turbines at the site, RES will build a wind farm with the capacity to power almost 9,000 households. The project will also provide about GBP 90,000 (USD 140,000/EUR 127,000) per year in community benefits over its lifetime.

RES will complete the access tracks that lead to the turbine locations and then lay foundations before proceeding with turbine installation in the summer of 2016. Following a period of testing and commissioning, the wind park is expected to be up and running before the end of next year, RES said.

The developer added it will build a new link road as an additional community benefit to improve traffic flow, visibility and road safety.
