(ADPnews) - Nov 26, 2010 - German wind turbine maker REpower Systems (ETR:RPW) yesterday said it had won a deal to deliver 295 MW of wind turbines to Belgian C-Power NV for an offshore wind project in the North Sea.
REpower, which is a unit of Indian wind power firm Suzlon Energy (BOM:532667), did not disclose the price of the deal.
Under the agreement it will deliver and install 48 turbines of its 6M type for the second and the third phase of the project. Installation of the first 24 turbines for the second phase is scheduled for the spring of 2012. The remaining 24 turbines are expected to be installed by the middle of 2013.
REpower said it delivered and installed six turbines of 5M type for the offshore farm's first extension stage in 2008.
The wind farm is located 28 kilometres (17.4 miles) off the cost of Belgium. Its first phase was commissioned at the end of June 2009.
A syndicate of seven commercial banks including the European Investment Bank is providing EUR 900 million (USD 1.2bn) funding for the project, REpower added. Total project investment, including the first phase, will come in at EUR 1.3 billion.
