Report finds 24 US companies take up fuel cell technology
Nov 1, 2011 - A report by US non-profit organisation Fuel Cells 2000 on Tuesday showed that 34 US companies took advantage of fuel cell technology in a bit more than a year, including 24 new customers and 10 repeat ones.
Those companies installed, deployed or bought over 30 MW of fuel cell power systems and backup power units, as well as over 1,000 fuel cell-powered forklifts, according to the study.
The report profiles a select group of nationally known companies deploying or demonstrating fuel cells. Its 2010 edition profiled 38 businesses that deployed, installed or ordered 15 MW of stationary power, 600 backup units and 1,000 forklifts.
At the top of the chart are Walmart with 6.8 MW and more than 70 forklifts, Coca-Cola with 2.1 MW and 72 forklifts, Sysco with over 500 forklifts and Whole Foods with 1.2 MW and more than 60 forklifts.
