Renewable Energy Generation buys Vestas turbines for GBP-8m wind farm

Dec 21, 2011 - UK Renewable Energy Generation (LON:WIND), or REG, said today it had bought three 2-MW wind turbines from Danish Vestas Wind Systems (CPH:VWS) for a GBP-8-million (USD 12.5m/EUR 9.6m) project in northeastern England.

The turbines are to be delivered in the third quarter of 2012, while the project is seen to come on stream in the autumn of the same year. When fully operational, the wind farm in County Durham is to generate 16 GWh a year, REG calculates.

REG's wind energy arm REG Windpower currently runs 10 wind farms in England with a combined capacity of 41.15 MW. The company has 1,000 MW in the pipeline.
