French carmaker Renault SA (EPA: RNO) today announced several new projects with European energy majors EDF, Total and Enel that focus on electric mobility.
Under a cooperation deal with EDF SA (EPA:EDF), Renault and the French energy group will develop cross-marketing solutions involving EDF’s Mon Soleil & Moi self-consumption service and the smart charging of Renault electric vehicles (EVs). They will also expand the concept of smart islands to non-interconnected French territories such as Corsica.
With Total SA (EPA:FP) and its smart charging partner Jedlix, Renault has agreed to introduce a ZE Smart Charge offer in France during the first half of next year. More specifically, the parties will launch a smartphone app that optimises the management of EV charging.
Last but not least, Renault has partnered with Enel X, a unit of Italian energy major Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL), to develop charging solutions tailored to their individual customer bases. The collaboration will start with a pilot study in Italy involving smart charging via Enel X’s JuiceNet platform. The parties have also agreed to work together to install new charging infrastructure across Austria and Italy.
