Renewable Energy Generation Ltd (LON:WIND), or REG, said Monday it has received planning permission for its 9-MW Abergorki wind project in Rhondda Cynon Taf, southern Wales.
On Friday, the UK renewable energy company announced permission for another wind project in Wales, the 8-MW Mynydd Brombil wind farm.
REG now has eight consented wind farms, totalling around 60 MW, according to the announcement. The company has said 38 MW are due to be built over the next 18 months and is now also starting procurement for Abergorki and Mynydd Brombil.
As with Mynydd Brombil, REG said it was in talks with the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) on the eligibility of the three-turbine Abergorki project for the proposed, revised grace periods under the Renewable Obligation (RO) regime.
The approval by the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is in line with the planning officer's recommendation and is subject to the usual six week legal challenge period, the statement says.
"Our pipeline of consented renewable energy projects at various stages of procurement and construction now stands at 150MW," chief executive Andrew Whalley said, adding the company was on track to achieve its target of boosting its 111 MW operational capacity to 300 MW within three years.
