April 27 (SeeNews) - US biofuels producer Renewable Energy Group Inc (NASDAQ:REGI) on Tuesday broke ground on a USD-7-million (EUR 6.2m) process improvement and logistics upgrade of its REG Madison biodiesel refinery in Wisconsin.
The start of work on the upgrade project coincides with the formal opening of the plant following its acquisition by REG from Sanimax Energy LLC earlier this year.
At present, the facility has the capacity to produce some 20 million gallons (75.7 million litres) of biodiesel per year. The planned upgrade project includes process improvements, adding a dedicated entrance for the plant, additional biodiesel storage and locker rooms for the team.
“These upgrades will allow the plant to run more efficiently and optimize our production and logistics capabilities,” said Brad Albin, vice president of manufacturing.
