REG ready to power 18-MW bioliquid-fired plant in England
Nov 26, 2014 - Renewable Energy Generation Ltd (LON:WIND), or REG, today said it has finalised the commissioning of an 18-MW power plant in England, which will run on a bioliquid recovered from recycled waste cooking oil.
This is the biggest plant to be powered by REG’s patented LF100 fuel. It was built and will be operated and maintained by Finning UK.
The 18-MW facility in Whitemoor, Yorkshire will be producing power only to cover unscheduled power demand. REG has a short term operating reserve (STOR) contract with National Grid (LON:NG), under which it receives payments both for the time its power plants are on stand-by and for the power it produces on demand.
REG’s power-on-demand supply contract with the National Grid is valid until March 2016, after several renewals.
