RE100 ranks grow to 136

Five companies have joined the RE100 campaign in the last month, taking the number of its members to 136.

RE100, an initiative of The Climate Group in partnership with CDP, brings together businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity.

The latest newcomers are Japan's Jonan Shinkin Bank, US data group Iron Mountain Inc (NYSE:IRM), and three UK businesses -- Prudential plc (LON:PRU), The Crown Estate and Vodafone Group plc (LON:VOD).

In addition, RE100 said in its newsletter on Wednesday, that Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Environment have set targets of getting 100% renewable power for their offices and embassies around the world, while the Ministry of Environment has also established a goal of having 50 Japanese companies become part of RE100 by 2020.
