Queensland sets plan to support renewable energy industry

Oct 31, 2011 - The government of the Australian state of Queensland last week unveiled a plan to attract renewable energy investments and speed up development of green energy projects in the state.

Under the Renewable Energy Industry Development Plan, the government will undertake 23 actions in two years to support the development of the state's green energy industry, Energy Minister Stephen Robertson said.

Robertson expects the plan to help the state attract up to AUD 3.5 billion (USD 3.69bn/EUR 2.64bn) in renewable energy investments by 2020 and create 3,500 local jobs.

The announcement of the plan comes on the heels of the completion of the Queensland Solar Atlas of the best areas for development of solar power projects announced earlier last week.
