Queensland Premier opens 180-MW wind park by RATCH

Queensland’s 180-MW Mount Emerald wind farm, built by RATCH-Australia Corporation Pty Ltd, was officially opened this week by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

The wind farm has 53 Vestas turbines, producing enough power for nearly 80,000 households. Turbine installation was completed in September 2018, followed by commissioning of the whole park. The Aussie unit of Thai company RATCH Group PCL (BKK:RATCH) has in place a 12.5-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ergon Energy Corp Ltd for Mount Emerald’s output.

Premier Palaszczuk said Queensland has surpassed 2,400 MW of installed large‑scale renewable energy capacity, and there are also 900 MW of financially committed and under-construction projects in the state.
