Pratt & Whitney to supply 2-MW biomass power plant to Canadian Nechako
Oct 14, 2011 - US Pratt & Whitney Power Systems, part of United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX), said Thursday it had secured an order for a 2-MW biomass heat recovery system from Canadian Nechako Green Energy Ltd.
The organic rankine cycle (ORC) facility will supply clean power to Nechako's pellet plant in British Columbia. The system features an evaporator/preheater and a turbine and can generate 2 MW of power at max load. It would burn residual hog fuel and waste bark from the mill's operations.
Part of the funding for the project is provided by Natural Resources Canada under its Investments in Forest Industry Transformation programme, Pratt said.
