PPC Renewables SA, a unit of Greek utility PPC SA (ATH:PPC), and Motor Oil Hellas (FRA:MHZ) are considering a joint venture for the construction of a 100-MW wind farm in Greece, local media reports.
Talks between the two companies have reached an advanced stage and the duo is examining issues related to the project’s sustainability, interconnection and financing, Greek energy news portal Energypress says, quoting sources in the know. Their plan calls for the installation of a wind park on an unspecified Greek island.
According to the report, the feasibility of the scheme will depend on the grid interconnection options with Greece’s mainland power network.
PPC Renewables and Greek oil and energy firm Motor Oil are already partnering with a joint bid in a tender for a majority stake in a newly-formed entity by domestic natural gas utility DEPA. On its part, the PPC unit is involved in several collaborations with foreign players including Masdar Taaleri Generation DOO and EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR).
