Polish Tauron to acquire local developer of 100 MW wind farm
(ADPnews) - Dec 20, 2010 - Polish energy group Tauron Polska Energia (WAR:TPE) said last week its clean energy unit Tauron Ekoenergia agreed to acquire Megawat Marszewo, a developer of a 100 MW wind farm in northwestern Poland.
Tauron plans to call a tender for the construction of the wind farm, located in Marszewo in Poland's West Pomeranian province, in the first half of 2011. Completion of the project is expected in 2013.
This is the second wind developer acquired by Tauron Ekoenergia under its corporate strategy to establish 440 MW of wind energy by 2020, Tauron's vice president Dariusz Stolarczyk said.
In March the company announced the acquisition of a 40 MW wind farm developer in northern Poland. At present Tauron Ekoenergia is developing the wind farm, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2012.
