PLT energia, Vergnet to build 4 MW wind farms in Europe

Jul 1, 2014 - Italian renewable energy holding group PLT energia SpA will install wind farms of a total capacity of 4 MW in Europe under an industrial partnership deal it has signed with France's wind turbine maker Vergnet SA (EPA:ALVER).

PLT energia and Vergnet began their collaboration in 2012, which led to PLT energia's unit PLT engineering Srl installing and operating eight wind farms in Italy.

The latest agreement will allow PLT to build 20 wind parks of 200 kW each in Italy in 2015 and 2016 and continue installing farms elsewhere in Europe, PLT's chief executive Pierluigi Tortora said in a company statement on Monday.

The partnership with PLT has allowed Vergnet to enter the Italian market in 2012, in which the French company has some 80% penetration in the mini-wind power market, Vergnet CEO Jerome Douat said.

PLT energia SpA produces 230 GWh of electricity from renewable energy sources annually.
