PKN Orlen, Klaipedos Nafta to explore offshore wind O&M tie-up

Lithuanian oil and gas company Klaipedos Nafta and units of Polish oil refiner PKN Orlen (WSE:PKN) have joined hands on a potential initiative involving the provision of operation and maintenance (O&M) services for offshore wind farms off Lithuania.

A letter of intent regarding the possible cooperation has been signed by PKN Orlen’s subsidiaries Orlen Neptun I and Energa Wytwarzanie and Klaipedos Nafta, the latter said on Friday. The arrangement clears the path towards an agreement regarding the development and implementation of a joint strategy between the three companies, as well as possible synergies and needed conditions.

The strategy is expected to be created by the middle of next year. According to the plan, it will be developed to initially involve O&M services for two wind farms in the Lithuanian part of the Baltic Sea. If it proves to be successful, Klaipedos Nafta and PKN Orlen will seek to expand their partnership with more projects.
