Philippine company Energy Development Corp (PSE:EDC) on Monday announced that it has received the green light to conduct grid impact studies (GIS) on six wind power schemes, the combined capacity of which is above 1,000 MW.
The company announced the approval by the country's energy department in response to a Sunday article by The Standard (Internet Edition), which said that it plans to build six wind parks totalling 1.5 GW.
The wind projects will potentially be located in Luzon and the Visayas, according to the statement.

EDC has also obtained the go-ahead for the planned expansion of its 183-MW Burgos wind project in Ilocos Norte.
“We confirm that the wind service contract areas mentioned as belonging to EDC subsists and that the conduct of GIS is part of the activities aligned with our project development plans,” the geothermal-focused company said.
