Paris suburb communes seek bids for geothermal heating network

The Bobigny and Drancy communes in the northeastern suburbs of Paris are seeking bidders in a tender for geothermal heating network concession.

The Outer Paris Inter-Municipal Utility for Electricity and Communication Networks (SIPPEREC) is looking to award a concession for the creation and operation of a public heating network, supplied via two doublets in the nearby Trias and Dogger aquifers.

The deadline for accepting bids is set at June 20, 2018.

According to the tender notice, the estimated value of the concession comes in at EUR 360 million over a period of 360 months.

The concession winner will take over the operation of the existing public heating network in Bobigny from September 1, 2020.

The end objective of the concession is to have a heating network supplied in 55% by renewable energy sources by August 31, 2026.
