Swedish renewables developer OX2 announced on Thursday it has sold an 86-MW wind farm in its home market to domestic oil-and-gas company Lundin Energy AB (STO:LUNE).
Financial details were not disclosed. For Lundin, the deal was carried out to support its 2025 carbon neutrality goal.
OX2 is the developer of the Karskruv project and will be in charge of its construction under a tailored engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal. Once the plant becomes operational, OX2 will also oversee its technical and commercial operations.
To be installed in the municipality of Uppvidinge, in southern Sweden’s Kronoberg County, the wind farm will use 20 Vestas V150-4.3 MW turbines that will be capable of producing around 290 GWh of electricity annually, or enough to supply 60,000 homes. It is scheduled to go online in 2023.
OX2 noted it is currently building 14 wind farms in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Poland with a combined capacity of roughly 1 GW.
Last year, Lundin agreed to off-take the power from a 132-MW Finnish wind farm owned by OX2. Construction of the zero-subsidy project is currently ongoing, OX2 said.
