European asset manager Aquila Capital has agreed to buy a 148-MW wind project in northern Sweden from renewable energy developer OX2, the latter announced on Friday.
The particular wind farm will be constructed in Lehtirova, located between the municipalities of Gallivare and Pajala. It will consist of 41 of Vestas’ (CPH:VWS) V126-3.6 MW turbines. Together, they will have the capacity to produce 490 GWh of electricity per year.
At the same time, Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has entered into a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the output of that same wind park.
“Today’s announcement is Google’s 7th European wind power deal to date and reinforces our position as the world’s largest corporate renewable buyer,” said Francois Sterin, director of global infrastructure at Google.
OX2, which has a long-term technical and commercial management contract for that plants, expects to hand the commissioned wind farm to Aquila Capital in December 2018.
