Swedish renewables developer OX2 AB (STO:OX2) today said it has submitted an application for a Natura 2000 permit for an offshore wind farm of about 1.8 GW off the coast of Skane, southern Sweden.
The project, called Triton, envisages the installation of up to 129 turbines about 30 km (18.6 miles) south of Ystad.
The application will be assessed by the County Administrative Board of Skane. It comes after the developer in October applied for a Natura 2000 permit for the Galatea-Galene wind farm with a potential capacity of 1.7 GW off the coast of Halland, followed by a permit application in December to build this project under the Act on Sweden's Exclusive Economic Zone.
“The Triton wind farm would add renewable electricity to southern Sweden and ensure continued secured energy supply to the region and also contribute to achieving Sweden’s environmental goals,” said OX2 Sweden country manager Hillevi Priscar.
