November 25 (Renewables Now) - UK-based offshore equipment supplier Osbit Ltd has won an order for a pile gripper system to be used at the 640-MW Yunlin offshore wind park in Taiwan.

Osbit said last week that it was making the system for Malaysian energy services provider Sapura Energy Bhd (KLSE:SAPNRG), which will install it on its heavy lift vessel to support the installation of the 80 monopile foundations at the wind farm site.

Osbit, which has previously provided equipment for other offshore wind projects in east Asia, has 30 weeks from the placement of the order to deliver the system to Sapura Energy.

The Yunlin offshore wind project is being developed by Germany’s Wpd AG. The farm, to be located off the Taiwanese west coast, is due for completion in 2021.
