Aug 20, 2012 - Swedish industrial technology group Opcon AB (STO:OPCO) today said its subsidiary Saxlund International GmbH had won an order worth almost EUR 3 million (USD 3.7m) to deliver a biomass handling system in Germany.
The contract has been awarded as part of the conversion of a 248-MW coal-fired power plant in Berlin to biomass co-firing. It covers the supply of external and internal biomass handling systems with wood reception areas included, along with storage and conveyor systems for the power plant as well as the boiler house. Saxlund will also deliver conveyors and magnetic separators, enabling the separation of metal for additional recycling. The Opcon unit is due to commission the system in December 2013.
Christoph Groffmann, Saxlund managing director, said that there were significant opportunities for such projects as the German power sector moved to renewables.
