Ocean DEMO selects 12 winners in 1st call, opens 2nd call

September 30 (Renewables Now) - The EUR-13-million (USD 14.2m) Ocean DEMO programme today awarded recommendations for support to 12 offshore renewable energy projects under its first call and also launched its second call for applications.

The Ocean DEMO Selection Board has decided to grant support packages to the following companies: Flumill AS, Waves4Power UK, Vilicom, Sinn Power, SeaQurrent, Orbital Marine Power, Laminaria, Green Marine UK, FMGC, Magallanes Renovables SL, FlexMarine Power and Bombora Wave Power.

The chosen firms will have the chance to test their innovative products and services at sea, receiving free access to a network of test centres including the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Scotland, SmartBay Ireland, the Dutch Marine Energy Centre (DMEC) and SEM-REV in France.

The project is funded by the Interreg North West Europe programme, part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and gives preference to technologies ready to test by spring 2020. The second call for applications will be open until January 31, 2020.
