German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) today said it has received an order to supply the turbines for a 58.5-MW wind farm in Poland of the green energy subsidiary of Polish utility Tauron Polska Energia SA (WSE:TPE).
Nordex will deliver and install 15 units of its N131/3900 machine for the project, which is called Mierzyn and located in northwestern Poland. Installation of the turbines will start in the autumn of 2023, with commissioning planned for the summer of 2024. The order, received at the end of June, also includes servicing the turbines for a three-year period.
Nordex said this is its first order with Tauron, which currently has nine wind farms totalling over 380 MW, 34 hydroelectric plants totalling 132 MW and three photovoltaic (PV) systems with a capacity of 19 MW. The utility aims to boost its renewables capacity to 1.6 GW by 2025. The Mierzyn development is part of Tauron’s Green Turn project of transitioning existing fossil fuels-based electricity production to emission-free sources.
