Nordex to deliver 60 MW of wind turbines in Turkey

(ADPnews) - Oct 26, 2010 - German wind turbine maker Nordex (ETR:NDX1) today said it will supply and install 24 generators of 2.5 MW each in Turkey.

Nordex will supply 18 turbines from the type N90/2500 to Karesi Enerji, subsidiary of Turkish power transformer manufacturer Balikesir Elektromekanik Sanayi Tesisleri AS (Best AS). The German firm will then install the turbines at the 45 MW Akres wind project in western Turkey and hand over the ready power plant to Karesi Enerji in summer 2011. The facility will generate 170 GWh of electricity per year, to cover the power needs of around 90,000 households, Nordex said.

Nordex will provide the other six turbines from the same type to Turkish wind energy company Dost Enerji. The latter will use these to expand its Yuntdag wind farm. Yuntdag currently comprises 17 Nordex turbines of the N90/2500 type. It marked the German company's entry into the Turkish market in 2007.
