Nordex starts on time nacelle assembly in Jonesboro
(ADPnews) - Oct 4, 2010 - German wind turbine maker Nordex (ETR:NDX1) started nacelle assembly at its new production facility in Jonesboro in southern USA today, according to schedule.
Nordex completed construction of the manufacturing site in July this year. Since then, the firm has been carrying out preparatory works for the plant's commissioning. For instance, Nordex employees underwent a ten-week training at the company's manufacturing base in Germany.
The operation launch represents phase one of the USD 100 million (EUR 73m) project with partial federal funding. In a second phase, to begin in mid-2011, Nordex will start manufacturing wind turbine blades. When up and ready, the factory will be turning out 300 turbines, or 750 MW, per year.
